Amazon Route 53 is a scalable and highly available Domain Name System (DNS) web service provided by AWS (Amazon Web Services).
Now what is this DNS?
DNS (Domain Name System) is like the phonebook of the internet. It translates human-friendly domain names (like www.google.com) into IP addresses (like 142.250.72.206) that computers use to locate each other on the network.
For example: When you enter www.example.com in your browser, DNS translates it to 93.184.216.34, allowing your browser to connect to the server where the website is hosted.
Here Route 53 is a DNS that Amazon Web Servies provide.
Why to Use:
If you have a website hosted on AWS (like on EC2 or S3), you can use Route 53 to manage your domain name, route traffic to the best-performing server, and ensure your website is always accessible.
Features of AWS Route 53:
DNS Management: Route 53 lets you manage your domain names and connect them to AWS services or other web servers.
Traffic Routing: It intelligently routes traffic based on factors like latency, geography, or even health checks to ensure users are directed to the most efficient server.
Health Checks and Monitoring: Route 53 can monitor the health of your web applications and automatically route traffic away from unhealthy instances to ensure uptime.
Domain Registration: You can also register domain names directly through Route 53.
